Bank On Arizona works to provide access to safe and appropriate financial products and services for underserved communities across Arizona.
We envision an Arizona where all children and families thrive, regardless of income, and contribute to and share in the state’s growth. An Arizona where all residents work with government, business, labor and faith leaders in developing policies and programs that will ensure a strong future for all Arizonans.
Partnering financial institutions and community organizations offer services and educational resources that help empower people and families to improve their financial capability, health, and independence.

A basic banking account is an important first step in participating in the financial mainstream, depositing your paycheck safely, paying bills effectively, accessing or building credit, and saving for emergencies and the future. However, one key challenge facing people without accounts has been a lack of safe and appropriate banking products offered by mainstream financial institutions, particularly those without overdraft. Instead, nearly 50 million adults across the nation rely on costly alternative financial services – like cash checkers, payday lenders, and pawn shops – for routine financial transactions.
Participating banks and credit unions across Arizona offer low-cost, low-fee transaction accounts that are certified as meeting the Bank On National Account Standards.
Bank On accounts do not allow overdraft or nonsufficient funds fees, so you’ll never be hit with a surprise fee.
Certified accounts are $5 or less per month, with no unpredictable fees.
Certified accounts always allow free deposits, free withdrawals, and free bill payments.
Bank On Arizona has various partner financial institutions. You can find a participating bank or credit union in your area. The bank or credit union staff will answer your questions and help you open your new account.
Our partner branches have special checking and savings programs designed just for you. They will answer your questions and help you open an account that fits your needs.
You will need current government-issued identification. Some banks and credit unions may accept other IDs, as well. Most banks and credit unions will request a second form of ID.
The employee at the bank or credit union will help you through the entire process. Also, the employee can show you how to sign up for money management training classes to help you get the most from your new account.
Nonprofit organizations, such as our partnering grant recipient Dress for Success Phoenix, are working to provide awareness of Bank On AZ to underserved populations across AZ.
Participating financial institutions provide accounts certified as meeting the Bank On National Account Standards and are available at branches of these financial institutions.
