With many households lacking even a basic checking or savings account, we know that economic security starts with access to trusted banking options. Bank On Arizona unites financial institutions, community organizations and civic leaders to ensure everyone has the opportunity to build a strong financial future.
We kicked off the event with Jessica Howell, Director of Community Engagement and Bank On AZ Fellow at Dress for Success Phoenix, followed by a video message from City of Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego about the importance of economic growth in our communities.
Attendees gained valuable insights from our expert speakers, including:
- Paige Diner – Principal, Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, on the national Bank On movement
- Lisa Price – Vice President, Financial Health Philanthropy Lead, Wells Fargo, on the role of financial institutions in improving financial health
- Mary Salinas Duron – Senior Community Affairs Specialist, FDIC, on the impact of financial inclusion at a national level
Our panel discussion featured a dynamic conversation that highlighted Bank On from the perspective of varying stakeholders including:
- Scott Vanderpool – President, Bank of America Phoenix
- Tamala McBath – CEO, Dress for Success Phoenix
- Whitney Visker – Associate, Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund
- Alison Rapping – CEO, Arouet Empowers
A special shoutout to our volunteer moderator (you know who you are!).
We concluded by sharing written remarks from Arturo Pérez, Vice President, Community Affairs Team Lead Corporate Social Responsibility, U.S. Bank. His statement reinforced the importance of collaboration in making banking accessible for all.
Afterward, attendees explored the Economic Empowerment Expo, connecting with organizations and vendors committed to financial education and resources. Thank you to all the participants for coming out and making a difference!
The launch of Bank On Arizona is just the beginning. Together, we will continue breaking down barriers to financial security and empowering more Arizonans with the tools they need to thrive.
